Objective
The quality of the domestic varieties such as Uzun, Kirmizi, Halebi, and Siirt were determined and the results were compared to quality results of the foreign varieties such as Ohadi, Vahidi, Mumtaz, Sefidi, and Haciserif.
Materials and Methods
Eight domestic pistachio varieties (Kirmizi, Uzun, Halebi, Siirt, Ketengomlegi, Beyazben, Degirmi, and Cakmak) from the pistachio collection in Institutes field and five Iran pistachio varieties (Ohadi, Vahidi, Mumtaz, Sefidi, and Haciserif) were chosen as materials. Chosen pistachio varieties were found at the same conditions and all of them were budded on the same type of rootstock (P. Vera).
The samples of fruits were taken approximately 1 kg at the productivity period. The percentages of fat and protein contents of pistachio had been analysed during 7 and 5 years, respectively. Nine physical analysis had been done during 3 years.
Results
In this study, the weight of 100 foreign pistachioswas found to be higher than the domestic pistachio varieties. Foreign varieties except Sefidi had also more green colour fruits than the domestic varieties when they analysed by TSE 1280. But this result was interpreted that the reason of this data due to becoming productive recently and earlier harvesting period, however, all of the varieties were not harvested at the same period. Fat and protein contents of the foreign and domestic varieties were found to be not significantly different, although domestic varieties had slightly higher protein content.
