Objective
The objective of this study was to determine grape varieties to produce good quality wine which could be a big potential for exportation, therefore producers could increase their income in a large amount.
Materials and Methods
The most qualitative and productive domestic and foreign grapes under their ecological conditions, Semillon, Cabernetsauvillon, Alicantebouchet, Carignane, Clairette, Pinotchardonnay, Reishing Rheine, Pinot noir, Furmint, Merlot, Seperavi, Horozkarasi, Dokulgen, Kabarcik, Narince, Bogazkere, Muscat de Frontignan, Papazkarasi, and Emin varieties were used in this study.
Phenological observations for all varieties were reported when the fruitbuds were occurred. Sugar content was analysed to observe maturation in a week before occurrence of the spots. Wine was produced from the samples during 4 years followed by harvesting. Chemical and sensory analysis of wine were done.
Results
The number of suitable grape varieties for production of good quality wine were not too many despite the large amount of growing winery grapes. Horozkarasi, a good variety for quality wine production in the region, and the other adopted Carignane, Papazkarasi, Furmint, and Semillion varieties could grown to solve the problem.
