Dr. Ahmet Munir BILGEN
Objective:
The objective of this study was to determine the effects of irrigation on the length of shot and fruit weight and to evaluate the most suitable irrigation period and the quantity.
Materials and Methods
This study carried out on production field of Pistachio Research Institute and the full productivity level pistachio trees which were budded on Pistacia vera L. rootstocks were chosen as materials. Four different irrigation treatments were searched
Treatment A: when 50% beneficial water on 0-90 cm soil profile was consumed by plants
Treatment A: when 80% beneficial water on 0-90 cm soil profile was consumed by plants
Treatment A: when 50% beneficial water on 0-180 cm soil profile was consumed by plants
Treatment A: when 80% beneficial water on 0-180 cm soil profile was consumed by plants
Results
The irrigation periods were found to be 18-20 days for treatment A, 25-30 days for treatment B, 32-35 days for treatment C, and 45-50 days for treatment D. Treatments A and C were resulted better than the others.
When evaporation occurred on 72.2 mm for treatment A and 152.89 mm for treatment C, 5500 lt and 11500 lt water was needed to be used, respectively.
