DETERMINATION OF THE TIME OF OCCURRENCE OF MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF OIL IN OLIVE VARIETIES FOR OIL PRODUCTION IN Gaziantep region

Objective
The objective of this study was to prevent economical lost of farmers due to seasonal raining by determining oil ratio as a criteria.
Materials and Methods
Kilis and Nizip used for oil production, Celebi oil, Halhali and Egriburun varieties from the region were used as materials in this study. The average oil contents of the products were determined at a certain time periods during three production years and the time was determined when it reached to maximum level.
Results
The results of three years analysis showed that the occurrence of maximum oil production in olives was found at the end of the November. This study showed that this period should be considered during harvesting time of olives used for oil production.
Determination of correct timing to harvest the olive varieties for oil production was important for improvement of quality and quantity of products.
